League of Legends has one mode and I find that the items have more utility for team play. Team tactics are much more prominent and the way the game works is that there is no denying and no money loss on death so feeding allies don't hurt you as much as in HoN.

HoN is definitely an elite game for elite players since denying, last hitting, tactics and hero synergy all need to exist to win in high skill brackets but when you primarily play alone I ended up losing. At one point I had a 2.7:1 kd ratio with 1400 ranked PSR.

I took a look at the game, could not figure it out so I let my kids play it.

LOL watching the lines of text in the chat area as my six year old clicked on everything on the screen like crazy. I had the volume muted.

If you havn't played dota, I suggest playing about 100 games of HoN to learn all the heroes' abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Just keep in mind that the game is not linear. Your play style has to change depending on your team and the opponents.

Knowing when to farm, gank, defend, push, kill kongor makes/breaks games.

And you'll learn all this after playing many games. And you WILL get owned over and over again so don't get discouraged lol.

I would say it does unfortunately have one of the worst communities out there. It's really highlights the poster children of dysfunctional gaming.

But S2 seems to be working hard every month to make the game better. I've reset my accountd a few times once, at 1800 games, but I'veplayed 3500+ games for $40. and every week there's a new patch, with a new hero, or alt avatar, or tweak to the game to make it better than before.

The community is pretty awful. I used to play a lot and was at 1800 PSR before they began adding dumb shit like unicorn rampage, rage face avatars, and the flamboyant announcer pack. It's like the developer is catering to/promoting a childish community.
