Default HKS BOV + 25psi = Broken a year later.

I broke my HKS blow off valve today, looks like the internal diagram broke. I took it all apart and it looks toast. I guess 1 year of 25psi plus quite a few 30+ psi spikes finally did it in haha. I was boosting fine then all of a sudden I wasn't hitting full boost till around 4,500rpm (1500 rpm higher then normal) and then I knew it was toast. The diaphragm in the back of the bov came apart causing destruction to the front seal.

that hks bov i still stand behind the claim that it is one of the worst designs for a bov ever.

prone to failing and prone to causing surge without a mass amount of vacuum.

Now if only there was a solution to trying to make oodles of hp and torque while remaining perfectly reliable. Hmmmm. If only.

add some EFI to that, and it'd be perfect!

and reliable depending on what heads go on that... who wants to adjust their valves every 5k?

Pretty sure HKS does not reccomend the use of their BOV over 18psi. So i am not all that surprised.

Is it a real hks? I've seen knockoffs break in that exact same way before. I'd go bitch at them about it tbh. Then I would find a better BOV.. Mine always gave me loads of surge, so I tossed it.

I'm pretty sure the Valve itself isn't supposed to absorb the your crank case oil vapors, that's probably why it's toast so early. The high boost thing doesn't help the fact either.....

probably a knock off for sure, they're getting pretty good at copying them.

i've never seen a real hks blow of valve fail.
