Possibly part of the reason but also oil prices have/had been up today and yesterday.

You could say the same thing about Alberta O&G. How much money in tax breaks did we just give them again?
I would say exactly the same thing about Alberta O&G. Please go on about all the O&G specific tax breaks we just gave them though. Very interested in these unicorns people are so interested in bringing up.

It’s government political intervention that has scared away any form of capital out of the sector for the past 5 years.

Let's start with stopping transfer payments to unfriendly provinces.

Unicorns are single women who enjoys couples according to Misterman. I don't see why that is relevant.

Same .. cruise lines have very loyal following (myself included). A year or 2 from now i think it would be business as usual. Wouldn't mind buying some RCL at some point..definitly not now.
It is interesting how much some of the cruise line stocks have gone up today. Norwegian stocks just went up 42% and Royal Caribbean went up 22% today.

Alright boys during this time of extreme volatility I can't believe no one is making trades.

All the people with puts on SPY nearly causing convulsive laughter. Anyone on here follow wallstreetbets for the lols?

I'm in JNUG @ 5.58 straight equity cause I love pain.

    Yamana long call.

Long haul on PWM.V. Turns out I'm dumb money (period), especially so on this on. Bought in a few months ago after the rally @.18. the shit has not moved since.

my CVE position didn't make sense before, doesnt make sense now. More of an emotional buy than anything. Don't have much in it, hoping for a long shot on it.

I'm up on MFC. considering selling my position. It'll be early... but the crash is coming. I'd rather not be late.

What money did the government give O&G in tax breaks?
Kenney refusing to make oil companies pay their taxes comes to mind. How much is outstanding 173 million? That’s a tax break if I’ve seen one. Additionally, the government isn’t making oil companies clean up their wells and will start using taxpayer dollars to pay to clean them up.

So the province gave oil companies a tax break by allowing them to not pay their municipal taxes?

Yes. That’s in addition to the cut to corporate tax rates.

How can the provincial government force a company to pay their municipal taxes?

A decrease in the corporate tax rate is not a tax cut for oil and gas companies.

There is almost no recourse for this currently. When asked if he would take it on Kenney said he won’t make companies pay. This sets a bad example, the government has said they won’t make anyone pay, now even if you can and were paying your taxes there is no point in doing so in future.

In answer to your original question, here is the official tax cut the government gave.

Why isn’t a corporate tax cut applicable to oil and gas corporations in Alberta? I’m genuinely asking because this seem logical to me.

the shallow tax cut didn't result in the 173 million in outstanding property tax you referred to. I am not sure how the government could make them pay the outstanding amount? It was the courts that found the taxes were unsecurred debt and couldn't be recovered in bankruptcy.

Calling the corporate tax cut a tax cut for oil and gas companies is disingenuous.

The original article II read stated something like 100 million was outstanding from companies still in business. However the remainder was owed by companies that are now bankrupt and could not be recovered. Kenney states he would not go after those companies still active to pay their taxes. As I said, this set the tone.

Nonetheless, tax cuts were given to oil and gas companies by the provincial government. This was your original question correct?

I'm looking at some weed stocks again, I got out long ago, but short-term some of these like Aurora and Aphria appeal to make even a thousand within a day or two even with a few cents change. (I'm only risking like $5k right now).

I understand Aphria, but the risk on Aurora even for a daytrade is not worth it. Big stinking heap of garbage. You should do a little digging into them and you'll see how much of a stinker it is. Plus they're doing a 12:1 reverse split on May 11th, so yay, more room to drop.
