gdx to gld ratio

during the frustrating grind in the miners, if you look at the gdx to gld ratio, it actually broke out of a descending wedge miners are clearly over performing while gold made lower lows, miners did not and this divergence is pretty significant imo. with the pop this morning, we finally have some what of an impulsive action off the lows. now we sit back and see if it can get into a trend/cycle. 5 waves up and 3 down.

looks like a perfect text book 5 up and 3 down so far, unless is only a down with b and c to come. this could be the place for a nice move up for the coming weeks

Been accumulating PONY at these levels, I’m thinking a nice run up in the anticipation of LNG Canada going thru in October. Anybody have any thoughts on LNG Canada and who else will benefit from it, Montney players?

As a car guy, I have always been intrigued with automotive related stocks like automakers, car dealers, and even F1. I have been looking at ACQ.TO for a long time but have never pulled the trigger. I might do it after the latest drop in ACQ. It has been hit hard recently but I think it is good value at under $15 now. I will wait until the dust settles a little bit before buying in.

PONY had been very disappointing up until a few days ago. We will see how high it'll go and if it'll come back down like it always does.

Gold

thanks to Trump opened his mouth, gold is having one hack of a reversal hammer off the low (assuming it holds) and it is occurring within the ICL/YCL timing band. This is my revised count unless it still has a date to tag (touch below) previous wave iv near 1205.

sold some Mara/Hive after buying all the way down to 80cent/60cent area during the pooping, picked up some JNUG for fun.

it has broken above the upper channel wedge line of this multi month consolidation. The previous drop was indeed a wave 3/4. Now the question is a fake breakout? or a real one. as long as we hold above the upper channel line, the longer we stay above it the bigger the implication. depending on how you count the wave (4) ABC back in Feb/April. if this is a real breakout, I want to in some consolidation for a couple of weeks for a shallow sub 2 follow by an aggressive mania phase for a final blow off top.

edit: alt scenario would be a false breakout which will be followed by a steep wave 2 pullback retesting under 7420

my own plan remains using spx as gauge. once it reaches the 3200-3500 zone I will begin to scale back all my positions including in my RRSP in anticipation of an ending top that would usher in a larger degree correction.

Finally mux is starting to gain some action. clearing the all important 3.10 resistance zone. Looking for it to eventually back test the upper down channel line near 4.20

Hey SilverRex, what do you think of ERF? Its been on pretty steady upward trajectory for the last year. From a technical viewpoint, can it keep going up for long?

I put a decent chunk of GDXJ (~35%) into my higher risk portfolio. I'm okay with sideways actions over the next few months, just don't want JNUG and deal with decay. Now I just sit and see what happens.

ACQ is at $10.05 this morning, which in my opinion makes it good value and has significant potential for growth in the medium term. The sudden drop last week was due to significant changes to management and the board, plus write-down associated with an acquisition of a automotive group in the US earlier in the year. If you are into buying the dips, this might be one of those opportunities.
