What made you choose that one? What stuck out to buy?

Like the company and thought there was a bit of an overreaction to their low sales and earnings. Stop loss triggered this morning though and I’m out for now.

Yeah probably, was banking against it though. Might re-enter tomorrow, definitely a very high risk play.

TFSA question - i have some random stocks that have done crap, so are in the red. My advisor says to not bother selling as i can't deduct capital loss.. but im sick of looking at them.. thoughts? None of them are really risking any serious money, so not that concerned of being in the red (past a little annoyance of my younger self)

If you think they are going nowhere there is no harm in selling and putting the proceeds into something else.

Booking a loss isn’t the only reason to sell a stock

    +1 to what killramos said.

Sunk cost fallacy. If they're garbage and not worth keeping, get rid of them.

Be mindful that you may lose contribution room.

i.e. you bought $20k of some shit stock
it's down to $10k and you withdraw that cash.
next year you can only put in $10k

Similarly if you have $20k stock and withdraw when it grows to $30k you can add $30k next year to TFSA

*next year, not inclusive of the additional annual contribution room

Just keep the proceeds of the sale in the TFSA and you don’t have to worry about the effect of contribution room.

On another note, new highs for the S&P and TSX.

Hope this momentum keeps going but trade war bullshit is going to bring it back down.

Picked up Telus after the sector sell off when Rogers posted shit earnings. That turned out well.

Sold GOOS.TO earlier in the week. Turned out to be a good decision for once. It's down almost $9 already Looking closely for a chance to buy back in.
ACQ.TO made a big jump today after they released their results. This is a long term hold for me but it hasn't really done well for the past year.

Looks to be a good buy. Lots of upward potential since the 52 week low is only $42.

    Good luck!

I don't know the market is over reacting to news but it's priced around 82x P/E on a trailing basis.

They have also gone from 20% growth rates to flat to negative, shrinking margins and have had some significant operational issues.

Hard to say if the recent drop is capitulation but in my view there is still more downside risk.

I had a trailing stop loss trigger on me today on one of the wild swings. Got me out at 1.71 which is about a 60% gain. Im tempted to run with my money but i'm also FOMO'ing hard. Id bed there is a pullback after the rally and was thinking of getting in then. Is there that much upside left?
