    Default Project Supra

As some of you may know i have bought the dark green 1993 non turbo 5 speed supra from JDM source. I would like to get an increase in horsepower just wondering the input here. Since i really only have 2 choices and that is do the 5 grand single turboing or the like 7 grand engine swap plus bigger turbos/ one big turbo... input plz..

If you have that much money to spend modding it, you should have spent it on the TT 6speed. Stronger motor, stronger tranny, usually cheaper then swapping unless you got yours for a ridiculously cheap price.

How much horsepower do you want now, and in the long run? No point wasting the money on your set up now if you want big numbers later. Plan ahead and do it right the first time.

I'd swap it too since the TT motor could have handled that power stock but the NA one will not.

I say sell it and buy a turbo one. I'm sure the brakes are larger on the TT too and possibly some suspension differences... sway bar size, etc.
I'm guessing you're young. I used to hear this stuff from my friends back just outta high school. They'd buy NA Talons hoping to build it into Turbo'd Eclipse conversions or NA MR2's hoping to Turbo them or V6 Camaro's hoping for the maddd 350 drop in.

I know one guy who bought the NA MR2. Eventually did the swap, brakes, etc and is he any further ahead money wise? Probably not.

Start with a good base and THEN you build up as money comes. Or just wait till you make more money. I can tell you right now you'll be paying a lot more for upkeep if you swap. Power = more upkeep. IF you don't, I guarantee you'll be posting... my supra studders when I boost... my supra lacks power...

Good luck and that's just from my experience.

How many car builds or projects have you had? Sounds like you really need to do some reading and research before you go any further.....

Well thats a big build your talking about. And from experience , it is not worth it at all. Butttt if you are still going to do it.. You need to honestly go find an engine. I am sure you can find a MKIV TT engine for a few grand. Start from that , take it apart and over winter upgrade and build it.

IMO , dont think about this summer , think about next summer having your car done. If your not in a rush , I am sure you can pull together a pretty good TT Supra or NA-T supra.

Here is some pics of my build from my 1994 USDM Supra.
