Default Tint Removal - How to get rid of the glue/gunk?

    Hey Guys

Got pulled over for speeding and the cop made me remove the tint on spot on my vehicle and now the windows are very sticky and nasty. How do i get rid of that stuff? I've tried TKO and Goo Gone and still no success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

spray the windows with water, the wrap them with clear plastic wrap, wait 30 min, then take a terry cotton cloth dipped in hot water to wipe away the gunk, follow that up with a very, very sharp box blade to get what ever is missing

Why did you remove it on the spot? Did he offer no ticket if you did that?

Wasn't an option. Made us rip half the tint off each of the front two windows. This was in red deer.

Besides the point tho, tint has been removed and now the windows are disgusting.

    Any other suggestions?

Use windex and 3 razor blades ( the red razor holder, rona .) per window. First spray the window with windex. Next use the razor blade start at the bottom and scrape in a side ways motion over lapping strokes. Make sure the window is wet dont scrape on dry glass. Save the little lettering on the window ( on the bottom back corner) and the top of the glass for last as it will dull the blade really quick. Change the blade after you have scraped off half the glue. Pretty easy and about 1/2 hour of your time.

I found that it worked best when I used water and sunlight soap in a spray bottle, and a razor blade.. it got it off like butter. Scrape in one direction hahaha

probably the best way to do it:

    1. Spray window cleaner leave it for like a minute.
    2. rub the steel wool till your arm hurts.
    3. if that dosent work good enough spray window cleaner and
use the razor blade in one motion sideways.

wth? you guys are crazy for suggesting gas. this piece of glass is right beside you when you drive. I am sure the smell of gas would bother you. ammonia is the proper way to do it. if the glue is really stubborn, spray the ammonia on the window and then cover it with a garbage bag (squeegee it on) and let it sit in the sun. make sure you dont drip the ammonia on your interior because the strong stuff will stain.

What's the best way to remove the tint on a rear window without damaging the defroster lines? I can't imagine using a razor blade or steel wool.

Razor can also scratch the glass. Use a plastic edge, or a plastic razor blade if you can find it. I used a green dish pad, it clogs up quick but safe on windows.

Red Deer police are the worst for tint tickets. They have nothing better to do out there so they go hunting for people with tint.

Caution with the green dish pads. some of them have abrasives embedded in the plastic. I messed up a brand new windshield once with one of those.
