Default The next ponzi scheme - Milowe and Gary

    http://www.cbc.ca/canada/edmonton/st...-learning.html

I saw this on the news tonight and couldn't help but laugh - last year one of my friends took $750,000 in cash to Montreal and gave it to Milowe, then bragged about how it was going to be worth $10M tax-free in 2-3yrs time.

    Ooops

Some of the frauds out there have clean records, but I can't understand how, when you have somebody like Milowe who has a proven history of fraud, how you can possibly think it would be a good idea to give an individual such as that a briefcase full of cash (or any type of medium for that matter) and expect a miracle return.

    Why?

The guy clearly has more money than brains and couldn't be bothered to do any of his own due diligence and only got caught up in his own greed.

The OPs friend got what he deserved.

You feel bad for somebody (who works in finance fyi) who literally takes $3/4M in a briefcase and gives it to somebody with a fraudulent background, who he doesn't know on a personal level or anything, for a 10x return in a 2-3yr period?

I know you're trying to warn other people about new ponzi schemes, and imma let you finish, but Bernard Madoff had the best ponzi scheme of all time.

Now I know they change the prison term to the severity but does anyone else think it’s a joke that someone who cons people out of $5001 is charged of the same crime as someone who cons people out of hundreds of millions?

I would love to know why white collar crime is allowed to "pay".

And why do the criminals never have to pay back money/why don't they have payments to make for the rest of their lives?

Sure, its purely revenge, but these guys literally force people by their own doings to live in hovels for the rest of their lives eating ramen. I can't even imagine, its one thing to go through that when you are starting out, but being at that point after working hard for 30+ years and somebody essentially having robbed you of any benefit of that 30 years of work? Makes me.frothing angry, I couldn't imagine what Id do.

If you rip people off to the tune of 100-400MM, I would hope the outcome would be much like with Riaz... only without a credit card to save you!

I have personal experience with Milowe from when I was a kid (no I wasn't a victim) and he was a creepy guy even back then. I'm actually pretty surprised he's out this early and definitely feel for his victims.
