    Default random oil splurging

    So i have a 98 Talon tsi awd. today was the first pretty cold day and i was driving home from work when i hear this POP!! what the heck...so i get home and i can smell oil and there is smoke coming from my hood! so i pop the hood and my oil dipstick is popped out and shot oil everywhere!

    Anybody know what causes this and how i can stop it??

    Crank case pressure. Check to make sure you don't have any clogged pvc hoses and make sure your pvc is working properly.

    What you have is too much crank case pressure.

    Go to the closest mitsu dealer to you and ask for a pcv valve and that should fix the problem.

    Dont use an aftermarket one is this case because they are just as useless as your old one.

    If changing the pcv valve doesnt help then the next step is getting a new dipstick. The orings on the old dipsticks tend to get hard and not stay in aswell.

    That wasn't a problem past the early models....

    If you've got modifications to your talon it might be time for a catch can setup.

    The problem started in late 92 and went all the way to 99.
    It was just more prone in the second generation cars

    I guess I've always gotten butt-hurt DSM fanboys telling me that they solved the problem after the gen2's.
