Default Christian group condemns Calgary zoo's elephant sculpture

    http://news.sympatico.cbc.ca/abc/Loc...istians-ganesh

Cant wait to go to the zoo and see Cross's, Khanda's, Voodoo Sticks, Tiki Gods, Krons, Jewish Candlesticks, OM's, Mayan Statues, and other religous symbols.

    Really? This is just crazy.

"The display of foreign gods is offensive and does not reflect the views of the majority of Canadians,"

Actually, I would guess that the majority of Canadians would have no problem with an elephant that somewhat resembles Ganesh being in the zoo.

I guess some people just have too much time on their hands to worry about shit like this.

At first thought a Christian group was against the statue as it may have been in poor taste perhaps exploiting a hindu symbol, and was like "wow, that's really commendable that they would have such respect for those of all religions"...

    I should have known better

I see no problem with a statue of Ganish in the Calgary Zoo and i am christian. It is definetly more appropriate than a crucifix at a zoo.

Some people are just looking for anything to stir the pot up.

I was at the Zoo a couple weeks ago, I'm a Christian and I was not offended by the statue...

I actually thought it was pretty neat, looks really cool when your walking into the building and it actually fits in very well with the overall look of that area.

Throwing in a Cross, the 10 Commandments and Noah's Ark would not fit in anywhere at the zoo that I can think of...

This group is just lead by another loser who wants their 15 minutes of fame.

If this statue was supposed to reflect the cultural symbol of elephants and not a religious icon then it shouldn’t have been made to look just like ganesh.

How is it in any way more appropriate then a crucifix? When I was at the zoo a few months ago I saw it for the first time. After seeing it I realized that our whole country has gone to crap because we try to encourage other cultures to feel at home and give equal rights to every religion except Christianity.

Because the statue of the ELEPHANT is next to the..... yes you guessed it!! ELEPHANT exhibit. Figures huh?

Last time I went to the zoo, I don't remember seeing an animal that has any slight resemblance to a crucifix, would you like to enlighten me?

    Idiots.
It's a statue at the zoo. These are the kind of people that really make life difficult.

New christian groups suck, in the good old days the true god-fearing killing machines would have just walked in with torches and pitchforks and killed and burned everything in the zoo to both purge the heathens of their sins as well as flex a bit of Holy muscle. Simpiler times.

Just to play devil's advocate for a second here....

How is that different from any other religion or "minority" group in Canada?

I don't believe in a higher power so i could rewrite your statement like this ...

Muslims, Buddists, Jews, Christians, catholics and anyone else who believes in a god are the biggest crybabies. Like they have unnaturally sensitive vaginas for the sand that seems to be in there 24/7.

Doesn't sound so kind now does it?
