While running Symantec security software, my computer got a virus that created its own computer warning to try to get us to buy virus security software. It would interfer with my internet connection so that I could not look up fixes. Had a tech come look at it, and he did a band-aid fix to it and installed MS LiveOne, and it worked fine that night.
However the next day google (or any search engine) wasn't working so at work I looked up a fix...ended up fixing the Windows/System32/driviers/etc/hosts (had a bunch of garbage in the file and replaced it with 127.0.0.1 localhost). Thought it was fixed, but when I re-boot the computer it populates the above file with all the garbage again. I then removed onelive, installed AVG with identified one file, but that didn't fix it, then tried System Mechanic (which found nothing)
What can I do to get rid of this thing?
