I think it's pretty hard to get into USA (Hawaii or PR) unless you have a green card, work visa (hard to get right now) or you find an American girl to marry! I went to Maui in August and I fell in love with the place...I looked into getting a work visa and it's pretty hard to get an employer to even look at you. Let me know if you find a loop hole...I need to move somewhere warm too!

Having only been to Hawaii and Australia out of the three, I would probably choose Hawaii over Australia. But Hawaii is hard to get into where as it seems to be pretty easy to move to Australia.

If you want to live in Sydney, good luck not living in a ghetto without money. Rent is super expensive. I stayed at a bed and breakfast for a bit just outside of downtown, and some people actually were living there for years because it was the only reasonable rent they could find.

Its also hard to find work in Sydney. From talking to people it doesnt seem much easier outside of Sydney either. In Australia it seemed like if you weren't 1. Australian, 2. White, it would be very hard to find a job from talking to people.

I wouldnt want to live in Sydney personally, but if i were to move to Australia, I would live somewhere on the Gold coast or Sunshine Coast. Its a lot more laid back, clean and the scenery is nice.

I think the smartest thing to do would be to actually find a job in either place first, and then move. Otherwise you may be on your way back here sooner than you like.

Really depends what kind of job you may be willing to work. Have you considered Middle America or parts of South America like Argentina or Chile?

In one thread you're contemplating bankruptcy, and in this you're contemplating moving to a vacation destination?

Australia is realistic for you. US is probably a very slim chance.

It's not hard to get American Citizenship, it's actually very easy.

    What they want...........

    1) You can work, make a good living and pay said taxes.

    2) You have readily available skills, no criminal record of any sort, and I hate to tell you, but your chances go down the tubes if you are a minority. I have a friend from mexico who has been trying for the better part of a decade and is better off than I am.

    3) Have $250,000 in liquid assets.

I got my citizenship on the very first attempt simply because....

I'm white, I have employment in Maui and three I have the assets.

Granted I only live in Maui 3 months of the year, but it is not difficult. The difficult part believe it or not comes down to housing in Maui. They do not like non-locals buying property and the taxes they charge for being non-local are retarded.

So without $250,000 in liquid assets you can't really get in? Unless you have a job there already!?

What do you want to do once you get there?

What are your skills? What can you offer them?

Yes, all of these things are crucial. I had a work visa when I applied for citizenship, if you're already in the country under a work visa (which isn't very easy to get either) you can apply for citizenship, but it will still take a while. Just hire a very good (expensive) immigration lawyer and they'll make everything happen within a year.

I could be going back down to the US (New York) in the next few months and If I do, this is the route I'll be taking this time around.

Australia is a bitch to find a job , i had to work in a bar... And its stupidly expensive if you want to live some place nice.. I would only move there if I had a job opportunity before moving. just my 2 cents.
