wow... telus lol
Anyone know how reliable this site is?
http://www.dslreports.com/archive
Says shaw is ranked 22 behind rogers and telus is ranked 75...
BTW the #1 Mountain Cablevision got bought out by Shaw, but only in ontario
^^ Interesting if they are accurate.
my aol
it actually is 7m down, 700k up. i am just downloading house on fox.com/vod.
I had AOL dsl since 2004, and I have never ever noticed a problem with it. It has been more reliable then shaw. I have NEVER had a dropped connection. maybe there has been one but I would of been sleeping. But I know for an entire year of not unplugging the modem (ppoe) it stayed connected/same ip.
Im confused, maybe someone can explain this to me. Is there better or worse times of the day to access the internet? I honestly don't know how bandwidth priority works , and the reason I ask is because a few days ago I got these results:
However I do it this morning, and now I get:
Is that just normal peak/non-peak usage fluctuation?
Also, I did the ping test and it gives me results 3x that of the ping result above. Any net-head want to translate? lol

It was shaws trick. Give people extreme for a month so they find it is quite fast, then drop the speeds back to lower than they were before so everyone upgrades to extreme
Sounds like it. I thought it may be related to the roll out of the new(ish) 100mbit service, that they were messing around with existing config files and bandwidth limits, but since everybody seems to have experienced this I dunno if that's really what happened.
I noticed as well that during october / november, most times of the day I could get 20-30mbit down for the first 10-30 seconds of every download, and once my speeds stabilized they would still be ~10-15mbit, despite me being on the 7.5mbit plan. This month my speeds are back near normal, a short burst at 10-15mbit, then 10mbit steady.

Jesus does Telus ever suck. I would never give them a single penny if I had Shaw service in my building. Their customer service also sucks, as does their billing system.
I have Shaw Extreme, but for a month or so, I was getting 20 Mbit down, 1Mbit up.. It's now gone back down to ~15Mbit down/1Mbit up..
