Well, I have a sneaky feeling my skill for pumpkin carving is much greater than 99% of the people on beyond, I think it would be unfair if there was a contest and I entered.

So instead - even though I am not a sponsor, I will host a contest for the best pumpkin carving

we'll start with the prize:

Seeing as you use a knife to carve a pumpkin I see it fitting to have a knife as a prize

Brand new: Cutco Santoku knife
Value: $120.75

30 min Photoshoot (vehicle) with TDFTW includes a cd with originals

Lifetime guarantee on the blade. If it dulls, send it back and they will send you a new one. All paperwork is in the box




Rules:

Time limit: from now until Oct 31, 2009 - midnight.

1 entry per person

There must be at least 2 pictures:

one freshly carved with a piece of paper that says beyond.ca
one all lit up

How do you do that? I have enough trouble just carving a pair of eyes

Takes a lot of practice, trial and error and above all - faith in how it'll turn out

This is my 2nd year doing these types of carvings

I sure hope we have some entry's soon

i didnt look at just one, and never saved any of the links, besides my last laptop died, so no history to search either.

I saw a video on how to do a very simple one and read up on how to do more difficult carvings - then took a chance and dove in.

to make my stencil, i used corel 12, unsaturated the colours to grayscale, adjusted to a good contrast.
posturized to just a few layers and inverted the colours
