I dig the matte wrap! So jealous!
We need to do a laser test to see how much the Matte colour affects the effective range of laser speed traps.

I believe cops target your window and lights anyways, which is what reflects the laser.

Chrome on the grill are probably hurting the car along with the lights. Nothing a Blinder M27 can't fix.
I was at Ruth Chris too... can't get enough of that steak!Originally posted by rage2
Ya that was me. Was at Ruth's Chris last night.
As for the mirrors and bumper, I've been too busy to go get it fixed. The mirrors we suspected that might peel the way it was wrapped to get a cleaner look. It actually peeled the first night. Stretched it too much. The bubble in the bumper (front has a small one too) just need a heat gun to fix.
Like I said, been too busy to get it fixed. Probably this weekend tho!
Hot shit rage.. Looks hot. Sry to bump up an old thread.
Just came across this thread because I just started researching vinyl wraps..
Here's another c63 wrapped. He did all his chrome pieces (emblems too):

I plan on doing my 05 m3 in matte white.
The material itself is under 2K, but that's enough for 2 cars (I've ordered it and it should be here next week).
If anyone wants to do their car in matte white, let me know, I should have enough extra material to do another car. We'd split the cost of material of course, or I'll just do my dad's car or something.
Here are pics of someone else doing it with the same material I ordered:
video of install process (took him about 2 days)

If anyone has questions about vinyl, there are lots of choices out there. You can buy a roll for 900 bucks (enough for 2 cars) if you want harder to work with stuff that won't last as long.

Matte white looks good in pictures, but not in person. It looks like the car is made of cheap plastic. Really odd look.

Funny you should say that rage - I'm not feeling the matte black, but I do (did ) like the matte white. I should add that I've never seen either in person and your saying it looks like cheap plastic sounds quite valid and may change my opinion.
The black looks......I dunno, unfinished, utilitarian and kind of "military" to me. I suppose it might be well suited to Jeeps/Hummers or suvs for that reason.
I have a white car and would consider matte white vinyl wrap (as an alternate protector to clear more than anything), but I'm more concerned about wear & tear and maintenance. How's yours holding up now it's been on a while? Doesn't just washing it leave micro scratches? I would imagine that just by definition, white would be more serviceable than black when it comes to rock hits etc?
It depends on what kind of laminate you put on your matte white. But yea, matte-white is definitely a personal preference thing.Originally posted by rage2

Murdered-out matte black is becoming more common, so I didn't want to go that route.
I have red seats and think white matches better.
My ultimate ideal would be a lambo satin matte white:

2018 Lincoln Navigator
2016 Porsche GT3 RS
So you've been through a solid winter with your wrap now Rage2, how did the vinyl fare? Is it easy to keep clean?

It's easy to keep clean, but I have to redo the front bumper. It gets the same amount of damage like 3M, but 3M is clear and you can't see it. It was a bad year for rocks though, I've got 4 chips and a crack on my windshield, never had it that bad (my GTI went through 2 winters with no chips on the windshield).
I also have to redo one of the doors, got a scuff with red paint transfer, luckily no dents, and a fairly deep scratch.
The hood, fenders, everything else is pretty much flawless.

Nice... I may have to look into this for my MR2, I rather like the look of it, and I don't have to worry about the winter woes.
