Default Winter Tires - My Tires Inc.

Just wanted to give props where props are due.

I had ordered winter tires from My Tires Inc. It took a while for them to come in, but when they did, they got me in the very next day to install them. Install took a mere 45 minutes. I hung out in the back and watched/chatted with them while they did it.

I got four 205/55/17 Kumho KW17's. And for a very good price too. Last night I decided to really test them out.

Not sure if anyone is really familiar with the area, but down a side road beside Classic Jack's on 17th ave, the road goes uphill rather steeply, and then is barricaded off. It was completely covered in loose heavy snow. I drove half way up the hill, and came to a complete stop. Then tried to get going again. No sweat! The tires dug in good, and off I went.

If anyone is looking to get some tires, give My Tires Inc. a shout. I'm very happy with my experience there.

I went looking for some winter tires last night and I was quoted $260 a tire. I don't want to spend that much on winter tires.

I'm thinking of buying 16" steelies instead.

Anyways how much were your tires?

    I need 235/50 or 55/17

I can't remember if they are 50's or 55's now.

Yea, 17" winter tire prices suck . If you're not planning on upgrading brakes, go with the smallest wheel size you can go, and pick up steelies/tires. It'll be a bit pricey the first year, but the next few winters it'll be much cheaper.

That's the issue I had... with the upgrades brakes on the SVT, I couldn't go with anything smaller than a 16 inch wheel. So 16 inch wheels and tires was going to cost more than just 17 inch tires.

I got the tires, mount and balance, and taxes in for 734 plus change.

hehe I've been using 16" winters forever on the 944. Then I got the big brake kit, and had to get 17" wheels and tires just for winter. That sucked

But it's worth it for the big brakes
