    Default Exhaust Headers

Im going to be buying a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

The guy told me it has a hole in the header. Is it possible to say get a thin piece of metal and weld a small piece over the hole. If so will that allow the car to pass emissions until i can buy new headers.

Nah you don't need to weld it, just duct tape over it

I dunno about that, wouldn't that just start on fire?

I want a decent fix until i can get one not just some duct taped pos.

I want to know if its possible to mig or stick weld on that type of metal headers are made out of.

are you kidding, cutlass's rock. I dont have the money to get something uber awesome like a 68 chevelle SS ( someday )
    but a cutlass is nice.

I cant stand imports and tiny cars, I drive around with my friend in his cavalier and i can barely even fit inside let alone get in and out.

The Cutlass Supreme is straight up awesome! No matter what anyone says!

I don't believe there is any method to take except fixing that hole all proper like. Just replace the header and get it done with. The quick fixes are just that and never long lasting.

However you might be able to leave the hole and just use some header wrap. Maybe they won't notice and over look it?

Ya you can weld them but obviously you going to need to take them out of the car to have it done, make sure you change the gaskets/collector gaskets when you do. I am sure any muffler shop could do the work.

A Ferrari is a high maintenance chick, you spend money regardless of what you do with her. You can baby the C63, or slap on all seasons, and you won't be spending anything but yearly maintenance. Of course that's like dating a stripper and refusing to fuck her, which would make you gay.

Yes you can weld - just mig a chunk of metal over top - it may not look great but it will hold for a while.

They sell "Muffler Bandages" at crappy tire. Basically it's a piece of fiberglass with epoxy infused in it so when your exhaust heats up to temp it melts the epoxy and seals the hole.

I think they also sell "Muffler Sealer" as well which good to a higher temperature. Both of them are made by Permatex if i remember correctly.

^^ They aren't permanent, but the $5 or $10 will buy you a few weeks or months.
