I'm assuming that this is the upcoming one? I have a Gregorian / Hijri combination calendar here at my office and it lists "'Id al-Adha" under tomorrow's date.Originally posted by EK 2.0

Calgary Muslims celebrate end of Ramadan with food, friends and family
BY MEGHAN POTKINS, CALGARY HERALD AUGUST 19, 2012 2:00 PM
After 30 days of fasting and prayer, Calgarians joined Muslims around the world in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, with food, friends and family.
Prayer services at the Genesis Centre attracted thousands of southeast asian Muslims Sunday morning.
As a recitation of the Qur’an echoed inside an indoor soccer pitch packed with the faithful, Imam Syed Soharwardy explained the significance of the holiday.
“It’s a day of celebration. It’s a day of community, the worldwide Muslim community comes together as one people, praying to God, and remembering Him for the blessing He has given to us,” Soharwardy said.
Muslims have fasted each day of Ramadan from dawn-to-dusk throughout the last month, a time devoted to abstinence from wordily pleasure, culminating in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
“We are fasting and hungry, not because we don’t have food, but so that we can develop the feelings and tenderness for the people who do not have food, who do not have water, who do not have anything.”
Sunday marked an end to the fasting, an occasion for celebration, evident in the colourful dress and joyous mood of congregants.
“The rest of the day is for family. We get together, give gifts, put on new dresses,” Soharwardy said. “It’s a happy day.”
