I don't think it helps insurance, but it does if your getting suspended and you need a couple points off.

its a defensive driving coure (easinest class i ever took)
its a one day course in class course when a teacher re-teaches the important points that they teach in drivers ed. At the end you have to write a test (only a bonehead would fail it) and you get a 3 demerit credit. It basically erases 3 demerets that you have.
this does help with insurence and you can take the course every 2 yrs, if you want.
