With Rims and TPMS a set if 17" Blizzak WS60s with steelies was about $1100. I got some 15" X-Ice2s for something like 600 mounted on some steelies I had.

Slightly offset by the set by a pair of X-Ice tires I sold to another beyonder...I am pretty sure they had less than one season on them!

Check again-Tire Rack has specific Canadian shipping that covers Canadian shipping:
    IMPORTANT INFORMATION — PLEASE READ!

    CANADIAN ORDERS:

    * All orders from Tire Rack are billed in US currency. On the day the transaction is processed, your credit card company will convert to Canadian currency using the current exchange rates and fees of the issuing bank.
    * The sales taxes and duties included in this order are collected on behalf of the applicable Canadian government agencies. No additional taxes, duties, or fees will be collected by UPS Canada upon delivery of this order.
    * Delivery may be delayed by customs procedures.

And the price I see to Calgary just for tires is US$620.56, which is about C$653 @.95 exchange rate. But that is all in-no extra surprises at the door.
Still, a lot better than $1200. Even Tire Trends in BC is C$747 for the same tire.

I bought mine new from kijiji, girl bought the wrong size for her car. They are older though, Michelin Arctic Alpins, I will probably replace them for blizzaks after next year.

Hmmm.... I just checked what we would sell those same 225/60R18 Winterforce tires for and we come in at $793.80 including all labour to install and balance and taxes for Beyonders... By the time you pay the exact exchange rate on your credit card (not going to be where the dollar is sitting unfortunately), get them installed at a local facility etc, I think we would probably be damn close if not even a little cheaper, and that is still buying local...

Have to agree here with tirebob. I purchased a winter tire package from tirerack for my last car when the dollar was last around par and it beat anything I could find here. However for my new car I talked to Bob (didn't know about him back then) and his price pretty much matched what I could get on tirerack, but in CAD not USD, so before exchange, which sealed the deal for me. Might have just been the specific tires and rims I bought though. Either way I'm always going to favor buying from a local store if the price is competitive with other sources as then I have a local place I can go if I have any questions/concerns. Tires were Blizzak LM-25's, not going to mention the price though as they were extremely different sizes that probably 95% of winter buyers wouldn't consider.

BTW, tires are working out great so far Bob

Are winters as hard to find this year as last?
