I tried this game out before for a few days, and I just couldn't get over the learning curve.
I want to give it another shot, what server?
Also, is there anything else to know before making a character?
There is only 1 server (besides the test server) thats the beauty, everyone is together not segmented over dozens of different shards.Originally posted by calgarydub

Just 1 server, as stated.Originally posted by calgarydub

Nothing to really know before making a character. The other nice thing is that you can pick any faction/race, and still be friends with anyone, as your faction standings are determined by who you run missions for, rather than what race you created. So you and a friend could both create characters that are "opposing" (Gallente vs Caldari), but still do missions and such together.

The learning curve is a bit steep, steeper than most MMO's... give it about 2 hours and you'll pick up on everything. It is A LOT more user friendly then when I first tried the game about 4 years agoOriginally posted by calgarydub

Also if you play with the beyond guys, they give TONS of tips on how to do stuff.

That is pretty much bang on. When I stared playing, Dane (Destinova403) really helped me a lot with ISK, learning how to play, tactics, etc. etc.Originally posted by 403Gemini

Hakkola and I still play pretty regularly. I am usually on for an hour or so a day. I find I enjoy the game a lot more now than a did about 3 months ago on account of me being able to fly some pretty kickass ships now.
The key to enjoying Eve, in my opinion, is to constantly be skilling towards ships that you want to fly. I skill for the ship, the supporting skills, as well as any weapons I might want to use. Then, when I am able to fly that ship, I can fly it properly and without having to compromise on equipment.
I love my lil' Vexor <3

lol I used to fly a Merlin and loved that little bugger. Then I flew a Drake and loved it... but got bored of it. Then I flew a Hawk (T2 Merlin basically) and it was fun for a while. Now I'm flying a Tengu... being able to tank 10+ BS's at a time is fantastic.Originally posted by LilDrunkenSmurf

Tengu is my ultimate goal. After I get my drone skills up, I'm gunning for a Gila or Ishtar

You going to be online again tonight? I could do some missioning with you, if you promise to do all the work.

I also have to say, EvE has one of the best sound tracks in any game I've ever played. It has a very smooth, ambient background sound track that is extremely relaxing and very relative to the sci-fi universe it portrays. Its basically every classic sci-fi sound track in a video game.... I even have it on my iphone and fall asleep listening to it some nights because its just such good background noise.
