What would you think would win in a 1/4 mile? a stock 99-2001 WRX Turbo 4x4? or my 325is with a 95 ///M engine. all the other parts of my car are standard 325... what do you say?

In weather like this... the WRX
i guess the wrx in these low traction conditions, but on a perfect day... maybe the 325. it depends on the drivers as well
I think the WRX will take it - better traction, and the fact that your 325 only has an engine does not make it an M3

what differential are you using?
a bmw in a quarter mile is like having sex without a woman
btw an m3 @ sea level runs mid 14s only, so probably high 14s, 15s in calgary, whats a stock wrx run?
WRX will win easily.

Honestly (no bias here), my $$$ would be on the M3 powered 325is over a stock WRX at the strip. I have numerous tests showing stock M3s in the high 13s to low 14s at 97-102mph. All the WRX tests I've ever seen are mid 14s in the low 90s. My "on road" experience has been that E36 M3s always beat WRXs.
Now, if the WRX has some easy mods (boost, DP, etc) it might be a different story.
I always thought WRX's ran high 13's and E36 M3's ran mid 14's but trap higher, with WRX's win off the line with AWD.

I´m sayin with a perfectly good weather.... no snow. and both cars with no mods. I´ll bet on my 325. I´m trying it wednesday.

I´m using the 325 differential.. and trnsmision as well. its shorter the the M3.
id put my money on the E36
I have a bias for BMW's even though some are slow
I think C&D got the fastest 1/4 time for the WRX sedan, 14.2@94-ish or so. The E36 M3's run about the same time, give or take a tenth, but they do trap 3-5mph faster.Originally posted by rage2

325 tranny has shorter gearing so i would imagine the M3 swap should be able to take the wrx.
so rough price on m3 drive train from engine to diff is??
I tried it out today on a hiway and the impreza could´t catch up with me!!!! thats very good I guess.... Now.... I have to trie it on the track.
A 325i with M3 engine, will probaby has a better 1/4 mile then the stock M3 (nice and dry day)
325i is a bit lighter,(near 200lbs)
So, I will pick an 325i with M engine over the Stock WRX on straight road, hwoever, they should be pretty close.. will depend on drivers..... etc....
And on a dry highway ? WRX shouldn't hv chance to keep up with your M engine!
But, the Point is, who cases which car is 0.1 second quicker ?
They both fast, and nice, of course, BMW is more luxury and comfort, and a 325 with M engine should give you very good power for the buck ! and still probaby cost $15000 less then buying a real used M3 !
