    Default Windmobile.ca Launched

    Their plans suck.
    Their phones suck.
    They have no Calgary stores.

And I'm pretty disappointed with their offerings as of yet.

PLUS you're not allowed to port your number to them. So much for offering "crazy competition to the big 3"

    http://shop.windmobile.ca/ProductCatalog/VoicePlans/

To have the "unlimited" voice and data will cost $95 + whatever fees/taxes, meanwhile I'm with telus and it only costs me $65/month after fees taxes. Not to mention if you want data, you have to get a usb data stick? Ummmm

    There is already another thread.

I just canceled my Telus contract today and will be getting a Wind Phone. I am fine with the porting issue, and costs as I won't have to give Telus another penny.

I'm going to wait and see what all Wind can provide. I'm really not that impressed as of yet hopefully things turn around. I'm hoping for better rate plans like those of USA. As well as better phones.

Based on the information on their website, they will soon offer LNP although they don't currently. Can you elaborate on the $95 unlimited? I saw $45 unless I missed something.

The $45 doesn't include any data from what I'm seeing.

I love competition... the only beef I have with WIND is their phones are on AWS so u can't take their phones to other carriers. The only other carrier that will work is T-Mobile USA.

oh damn, thats the only bad part about WIND.

But their $15 plan beats Fido and others in terms of value. They give you 100 min and free caller id and stuff.
Might just get this for my mom.

add another $5 for voicemail option if needed....so to compare a reasonable plan is $35 for province wide, but doesn't include texting so +5 there and no voicemail (not required, but another 5) +35 data, so that's 80, (or 85 for Canada wide, since texting is included), I'm assuming there are no system access fees, etc., makes the total around 90 for unlimited everything, still not bad (as compAred to the $70 fido plan)

apparantly if you're not in their 'home zone' (check their coverage maps.)
It falls onto a rogers tower, and you pay roaming on voice/data.
    Am i understanding this right?

I don't see why you would have to pay for roaming if you're still in Canada

edit: home zone is the same as local zone..i think?

No, you need a phone with 1700 AWS band. currently only t-mobile USA uses this band.

    1. Calgary stores are coming. The service doesn't launch here until Friday.

    2. Portability is coming. From Rogers and Bell should be ready to go within the next week.

    3. I don't think you have to have USB data stick for the $35.00 Unlimited Data option.

    Their plans aren't that bad.

You can get a 15 plan, 10 for blackberry data (email and messenger), 5 for vm, and 5 for unlimited text and you're set. I might try them out.

Beats the 70-75 I pay with bell

Hey now, no need to give him a hard time. He has enough of that with almost every job he has

Haha jp. If you are getting unlimited everything for 65 then time to sign up with telus.

That's their biggest downfall. If they were regular GSM, they could easily get people from Rogers/Bell/Telus to just cancel their contracts and move over while keeping their phone.

Now you gotta buy your own phone and cancel your current contract.

And do the T-mobile ones have to be unlocked in order to work or is AWS ones universal?
