Default Where to get a mail box key replaced in a Condo?

Hi I have a question, if you live in the condo and you lost your mail box keys, where/how to get a new copy of it? Condo board won't help since the mail box is personal property.

?? so anyone can help on this question

    THX!

I think your best bet is to call a locksmith, replace the own lock and give you a set of new keys. (from your thread, I'm not getting the sense that you want copies of a key, I'm getting that you've lost all keys correct?)

Just went through this yesterday. You will have to call a locksmith. Depending on the style of lock, it may be able to be re-keyed. If not, they'll replace the entire lock.

Most condo's with lobby style super mail boxes... You probably need to fill out the key change form at your local RPO... Locksmiths wont touch it - property of the gov't...

Ask the mailman, he will take care of it or go to the Post Office.

Thanks guys, yes all keys are gone so i can't open the box now. I will give Locksmith a try and then mailman. (I don' t think the mailbox inside the condo lobby is property of gov? In condo doc it says it's belong to the owner.)

Any recommended Locksmith in Calgary? I've never done that before.

I don't think a locksmith is allowed to help as the mailboxes are owned by Canada Post, this is what I was told when we lived in a condo at least 15 years ago. Just pop down when the mailman was there I think it cost us about $12.00 way back then....but if there are empty boxes the unit they can sometimes switch out the locks for you.

Just go to your nearest Canada Post office.
Even if the mailbox is inside the condo it is owned by Canada Post.

if you are able to get the box open (maybe with help of mailman?), they sell them on ebay for super cheap. we had the same problem and never had to deal with canada post. i dunno about the legality of that though (?).

When the mailbox is inside the condo, just call a locksmith.

It's usually cheaper to replace the lock instead of rekeying it.

Not sure where this canada post because its in a condo stuff is coming from. It's certainly not true for all buildings. In my case, a new building with a large number of occupants, I was required to get the locksmith. Canada post had nothing to do with it.

Definitely not CP owned for condo's unless it's a small complex.

I know for mine it's personal property so I had to call a locksmith.

I had mine done by Ghost Locksmith, not sure of his number but he was quick and easy to deal with, google should bring up a number.

    NO!

I had the exact same problem.

First, the mailbox is not owned by Canada Post. At least, ours was not.

Home improvement places, like Home Depot and/or Rona will sell a mailbox-specific lock. Buy one.

Take a drill with a decent-sized bit, and drill out the center of the old lock. It will fall apart.

    Put the new lock in.

Takes about 5 minutes, and costs you $8.

Of course I'm serious. Hardcore? It is just using a drill...

...pay a locksmith $120 if you want to be... umm.... non-hardcore.
