Default LF: Used laptop - FREE

Looking for a used laptop. Needs a wireless card, and needs to work. Speed not really important, and neither is hard drive space.
Looking for a free unit to re-format and install linux so I have a "safe" environment to learn linux on. Wife won't let me "mess up" the family computer.
Can pick up downtown on weekdays, or in the north on evenings and weekends.

Prefer free. If needed, I might be able to trade a case of beer for it.

    Thanks.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Guess it was kind of a long shot. Oh well. No worries.

if you're looking for a machine to learn linux, you're better off asking for a desktop which im sure a lot of members here are willing to give for free.

Download a program called VirtualBox from Sun, install it and play with any O/S you want, including Linux without messing up your main system.

It simply creates a Virtual machine, if you are done with your experimenting, delete the image in creates and uninstall the program and your are done back the way you were.

I like these suggestions. The reason I'm looking fora laptop is that I travel for work quite a bit, and I have a lot of time spent in hotel rooms etc. The desktop wouldn't be terribly handy for that purpose.

I'll check into the vitrual machine idea. Hadn't thought of that.
    or
Maybe I'll just buy myself a laptop from kijiji.

Give this a try it works great
    http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/#requirements
all you would need is a spare usb drive, and the changes u make to the drive are persistent.
