I have seen that people are trying to sell their Olympic Torch's on Kijiji, eBay etc.
Would you sell it if you had one?
Would you try to buy one if you had the chance?
Torch For Sale
I wonder what the torch bearers paid to keep their torch's?

heard on the radio that they could buy a relica torch for $329. I would buy one for that much, but I wouldn't sell it if I had the chance to get one.
Would I? Definitely not. But there are definitely people out their who will.
Maybe if I was in the Olympics, but otherwise I don't get it.
I think anyone can buy a replica but I wonder what the runner's actually pay for the one they carried?Originally posted by the_game22

I heard Rutherford saying that he purchased the one he carried but he wouldn't let the price out (is it a big secret?).
A couple of the kids I used to train with were/are torch runners, I believe they paid $400 to keep theirs, and at least of them I know has theirs framed so the soot from the flame doesnt get smudged.
I already have a lot of olympics stuff from 2006, but I would gladly buy stuff from this year if I had the disposable income.
I worked for Teck Metals last summer (the guys who supplied the gold/silver for th medals) and they got to choose a few runners. My boss got one of the spots by Penticton. The company stepped up to buy the torch for them so they could keep it.

I think their main complaint is that they did not receive the stolen property they paid for.
If I was a carrier, I would buy mine. I would never purchase a torch carried by someone else.

However, I may purchase a brand new one as I have a couple friends competing, and would be cool to get them to sign it, and then frame it for my living room.

Looks like my friend's bro had to pay $380 to keep his. Not bad for something like that.
If I had spare cash laying around, I would. My mom and I took my 1 year old son and went and stood on the side of the road today and cheered on the torch on it's way to OP. It would be neat to have that to give to him when he's older. My parents bought us the cheesy white candle/red cup 'torch' in '88 and I still have mine, even though I was only 4 and don't really remember much of the olympics at all. I still think it's really cool that I have that, so I guess the answer would be yes, if I had $400+ laying around, I would buy one
x4. I thought the runners were given the torch, but if I was a runner I would definitely buy the one I ran with. I wouldn't buy one someone else ran with. It makes no sense to me.Originally posted by Masked Bandit

For $2,250 it'd better to be carried by some big name athlete or something to be worth that much. If it's just some random guy working at MEC, then definatly not worth the money. But sadly enough it might sell because of the hype of the Olympics.
i got 5 on it.

I saw a little tv thing about how they made it to not go out with running and what not. That's all I know about it.
I'm gonna buy one and mount it to my exhaust so that my winter car looks super fast, shooting flames wherever it goes!
