    Default 2010 F1 Liveries Thread

Here are the launch dates that I know of:

    January 25- Mercedes GP
    January 28- Ferrari, Toro Rosso
    January 29- McLaren
    January 31- Sauber, Renault
    February 2- Lotus

Mercedes isn't revealing their new car until the day before pre-season testing begins, but is showing their new livery on last year's Brawn GP car on the 25th.

    Here's a peek at Ferrari's livery:

^Isn't that the BrawnGP001 with Merc livery? Thats the wing from Singapore IIRC. Merc is unveiling on Sunday.

edit: I can't seem to find any better picutres to link of the McLaren MP4-25. Looks good with the Force India/Redbull nose and the integrated engine cover and wing...

Definitely a sweet looking Mclaren.. Surprised they went with the Shark-fin engine cover design.

Really? Wow, I guess I never took a good look at it before then.

I guess it took them a year to figure out that they wanted it. One of the major reasons for running the shark fins is for a more stable yaw response in high speed turns now that traction control is gone. It would've helped prevent Hamilton from spinning on the last corner and giving up third in Monza last year. I commented before last season that we would see more sharkfins

Busy front wing, look at McLaren's. I even see vertical fins on the underside of the wing...for airflow management around the tire probably *looks at H4LFY2nR*

Most teams had the vertical fins last year as well... Just not as easily seen.

Ya dude. Reducing drag on those front tires without fenders is really important to them, so they have all those crazy looking winglets on the endplates and wing to try and get the air moving around the tire before it hits it. Here's a sweet photo to compare Ferrari and McLaren on their front suspension design, frontal areas, underbody inducers and wings

So if you do a Google search for "2010 mclaren f1 car" you might notice the first link goes to mibz.com. Hilarious coincidence.

Interesting shark fin on the McLaren. Same with the entire front end, looks really complex.

The Ferrari looks pretty much like the F60 (it has its front and rear wings), I am looking forward to seeing new bodywork.

As expected, the F10 features a longer wheelbase to improve the car’s weight distribution because of the enlarged fuel tank owing to the refuelling ban.

Some of the car’s most sensitive aerodynamic details are are not shown – it has been presented with 2009-specification front and rear wings and Ferrari has avoided showing any images of the rear of the car where there is believed to be an aggressive double diffuser.

One of the most striking changes is to the nose, which is longer and raised higher in the distinctive style of Red Bull’s 2009 RB5. The onboard camera housings, which every car must be fitted with, have been moved back from the tip of the nose.

Compare new and old Ferraris Compare the new and old Ferraris The front-on shot reveals slightly smaller air intakes for cooling, which is most likely a consequence of this year’s car on having KERS. Under the skin the radiators are likely to be longer and narrower than last year’s to fit around a larger fuel tank, a compromise other teams will have to make.

There are small turning vanes in front of the sidepods, upon which the rear view mirrors are mounted. The sidepods themselves have a more sculpted aerodynamic shape.

Saubers new car looks pretty sweet.. Was surprised to not see any livery package on it yet though. Aside from the high nose I like it.

Renault... typical ugly color scheme. Design looks pretty slick though.

Apparently there was more white added to the C29 to make room for more sponsors. The aero looks really interesting though. If this is the shape of 2010 cars, then I am really excited to see the others !
Just looking at the rear diffuser, I wonder if that flat piece is providing cover for the real diffuser? It looks taped on there.

I was thinking the R30 looked like the R29, just some new colors.
