    Default Looking for specific bolt

    What's up lads!

Okay, here's my situation. I have removed my timing chain tensioner on my S2K and it doesn't seem too difficult to reinstall; however, I am lacking a specific bolt to get the piston retracted. Here's what I'm looking for:

    It's a 5mm X .80 bolt that is at least 1.5- 2" long. I need this and a nut that fits it.

Does anyone know where I can get this thing? I have tried Rona, Home Depot and a few automotive shops but can't find this damn bolt. I'm thinking of just going into Honda and asking them to retract it for me but I'm fearing they'll bend me over on something that would cost me a couple of bux for a bolt.

Any help would be appreciated or if you have this bolt, do share!

    Cheers

Suprisingly CTire has probably the best selection of bolts I've ever come across. I remember looking for some specific ones that Auto Value, Home Depot, and Rona didn't carry, hit Ctire and yup, there they were!

0.8 is the only thread pitch there is in a 5mm.......

if im not mistaken from my 2 years of working at quest, its the space between each thread in mm. obviously there isnt a lot of room between each thread with a bolt that small. therefore, theres only 0.8mm between each.

    BOlt supply house
    Triad fasteners

will be your best bet if it's just a generic grade 5/8 course/fine metric/sae bolt.

Sometimes auto manufacturers use 'special 'bolts and nuts in certain places (e.g., the spindle nuts used to hold spindle on sn95 mustangs isn't just a regular 34mm locking nut); in those cases it's better to pay the markup.

Yeah, this is the bolt size that Honda specifically calls for when retracting the TCT and it has to be longer than an average one, hence the 1.5".

Anyway, I'll have a look at these places. Just hope they are open on Saturdays!

I've used a safety pin the past for a K-series tensioner.
IIRC they are very similar in design to the S2K ones

the best way to compress the piston is use the battery tie down, wind that down onto the tensioner, it gives you enough slack.
the battery tie down is a 5mm bolt

You gotta be taking the piss! Are you serious? That's pretty funny if that's the case! I'll have a go at that first because I can't seem to get to those stores in time before they close but we'll see.

MaybeI should order it on line but one bolt! Sheesh!
