Default Need help in the restaurant industry

So here's my story, I graduated highschool last spring
and since then i've been helping restore an old impala for
cash while uprading. I've had alot of pressure put on me when it
comes to making good grades and getting into university.
I've always had a passion for cooking and planned on
attending the art institute in vancouver later cia in the states,
    ive recently finished upgrading and
dont want to waste anymore of my time or parent's
money on courses or going into something that I dont have any interest in.
I have applied for saits pck program or better known as professional cooking
two year diploma in Fall. My only
other interest was Business major in HR. Anyway, ive
been applying at restaurants lately and had one call
from a casual restaurant, I attended an interview by a
sous chef he told be he would definetly try and push
the chef to hire me because he liked me and
knew I was seriously interested, which I am. He immeadiatly
had the chef come over and ask me a couple questions,
anyway no call back, it was very discouraging but definetly
isnt going to stop me from doing what I want.

I am hoping any of you beyonders could help me with my
pursuit of a kitchen or can reccomend one that Is hiring as
im interested in starting my apprenticeship before pck in fall.
I am reliable, dependable and mature. thank you guy's for reading
and please pm me if you have any advise when it
    comes to searching for that
    first restaurant. Thanks again.

I took PCK back in 2000 and now I'm in the automotive industry. The program was good and all but I could of watched Food TV and learned the same skills.

Earls and joeys are a great intorduction to the industry, but only and intorduction. Just be warned be prepaerd to give up all holidays and weekends, long hours and cuts and burns. This is not an easy industry but if you are passionate about it then its totally worth it. The program at sait is good, but only for a foundation and it does look good on a resume. Going to school really sorts out who is actually going to stay in the industry and who just thought they liked to cook. This time of year is ussually very difficult tol find a job in the kitchen everyone is slowing down and are cutting hours hard. Just keep applying and try to find out some information on some resturants your thinking of working at. the best thing is be consistant, and make sure they know you there to work hard and learn. Any real chef loves that shit. if you have any more questions just pm me ill be happy to help

Yeah just like AccordtypeR said, It is the slow time right now. Usually starts to pick up around March, If you can wait , apply at some golf course. but it is only seasonal. I was at the same place for 4 years an they let me go.

I worked at a few golf courses and the only way you can get on full time thru christamas is your the chef or sous chef.
