Milk in a bag was the biggest culture shock I had in Ontario. Buy a bag, only to cut it open and put it in a jug anyway. Never made sense to me.

Its probably a good thing this didn't catch on though:

Yeah, I remember bagged milk, had it all the time in Ontario, also had it in Alberta in the early 90's.

I'm pretty sure I've seen it recently at the Safeway at Glenmore Landing. I'll check again next time I'm there.

Totes. You had a delivery day, and you used to put tokens in the mailbox and they would take your token and leave you milk bags. What an archaic system!

Yep, used to get the bags until the late 1980's. Then it switched over to the cardboard wax cartons.

    I remember bagged milk!

When I was younger, my parents would walk to the safeway and buy milk in a bag, hook it onto my stroller and walk home. System worked well until the one day they bought a bag of milk for me, and some how it developed a hole on the way home and leaked all over the sidewalk, got home.. and no more milk...

I even remember the pitcher, ours was red lol

Yeah, I lived in Ontario for 11 years and thought Alberta was weird as hell with it's cartons. Now it's vice versa and Ontario is pretty fucked.

edit: our pitcher was red too

haha they've been having this discussion on a few of the forums I'm on.

Back in the day a lot of people used milk in a bag but now it's mostly in the Eastern part of Canada and in small towns.

In every rig camp I've been in for work there's been bagged milk. Well, it comes in a box, but inside the box there's a bag. It tastes like milk tastes.

My mom still uses bag milk, I kind of forgot about it until I was home (NS) at xmas time. Put one bag in the fridge and put the others in the freezer until needed.

Wine in a bag is gold if you are hiking. The bag weighs almost nothing, and when it's empty, you can inflate it and use it as a pillow.

Yup thats Ontario style. We went down over the summer for a wedding and stayed at my aunts house and I saw the milk like that. I asked my mom and she told me that they STILL get it there in bags delivered, whereas in Alberta they stopped it many years ago.

But they only get deliveries like once a week or someshit like that and the people we stayed with were to effing cheap to buy some more, so I ended up having to buy my own milk for 2 weeks

Arguing over the internet is like cheering on the Oilers. Win or lose, you're still a dumbass.
