in previous windows versions, all i had to do was SHIFT+right click, and would have the optoin "Open command window here." However, this isn't working in Windows 7. WTF!!!!!! is microsoft trying to ruin my life or something? anyone know how to do this?

    thanks!

doesn't work for me in 64 bit windows 7, unless I shift-right click on the left hand window (that shows the directories). if i shift-right click on the right side folder view, i don't have that option in the menu.

Shift + Right click works for me as well.
    Win7 HomePremium x64.

You could always navigate your way to the correct folder via DOS commands. Not that difficult.

What you could also do, is create a new text file in the folder you want to open... inside the text file write "cmd.exe" then save it and rename the text file to "cmd.bat"
launch the bat and a command prompt will with directory set as the folder your in

Microsoft - Open Command Window Here
This PowerToy adds an "Open Command Window Here" context menu option on file system folders, giving you a quick way to open a command window (cmd.exe) pointing at the selected folder.

type 'cmd' into the search program and files bar under the start button.

    also works for 'regedit'

^^yea, or windows key+r and type cmd

the problem is that i want to open it from a particular folder, so I don't have to navigate through like 20 directory levels in DOS.

I didnt even realize there was a show desktop button until now.. I was hating the fact it was missing off the left hand task bar, turns out you just click the bottom right corner now..

Windows Key + D is faster. That bottom right button is fucking annoying so I always disable it.

One of the best new features of windows 7 is the window positioning shortcuts. Windows Key + arrow direction moves a window to either side or maximized if you pressed up. It also works across monitors.

Now when I want t move a window to the right screen, I just tap right right up. Feels like I'm playing mortal combat.

I often sit back at my desk with my feet up, so keyboard isn't an option.
