I was down at the airport today for work and I just happened to stumble upon this jet sitting on the apron. I rushed home from work, grabbed my camera and hurried back, afraid it would be gone when I got there... Thankfully it was still parked! And I got there just in time for sunset!
It is of course, an Antonov 124-100. A transport built back in the days of the Soviet Union, it's the second largest aircraft in the world, only to it's bigger brother the An-225. It can take off weighing over 830,000 pounds. A seriously impressive machine.
My love of aircraft is no secret, so I stuck around and shot some others as well. I go to the airport every morning with work and FedEx always has a beautiful old 727-200 freighter there. On Monday this week, I noticed that they'd replaced it with a nice new 757-200.
Sun went behind the clouds
Snapped a nice Cessna Citation 550 through the fence.
The Sun came back out as this WestJet 737-700 was departing off the ramp.
Hope you guys like them. If it's nice on Friday, I may spend a few hours shooting out there, trying to catch departing and arriving flights.
Big thanks to Matt@STRD for his 55-200 lens as well. Thanks, buddy!
