There aren't a lot of positives about being overweight, but a study by the University of Michigan shows that there could be one reason for the chunky among us to celebrate. U of M studied 300,000 traffic fatalities obtained from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration between 1998 and 2008, and it has reportedly found that overweight people had a 22 percent lower fatality rate than underweight people. However, the story changes for the worse if you're a man with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 to 50 and you are not wearing a safety belt. The study shows that obese men are 10 percent more likely to die in an accident if they don't buckle up.

I'm pretty pro-skinny and I think overweight people just need to start being healthy, anyways, finally found the only positive to being fat : 22% less likey to die if your overweight! Haha.

I agree with the fat people starting to be healthy thing. I used to be crazy in shape back in highschool since I was a very serious and focused baseball player, did baseball camps couple times a year, played on two teams, etc, etc. Then I injured my arm, couldn't play anymore and put on a bit of weight.

I'm not even that heavy I would only need to lose 20/30 at the most and I feel like it affects many aspects of my life negatively.

I don't even want to imagine what actually being obese must feel like...

22% more likely to survive compared to an underweight person, not a normal weight person. Normal BMI is 18.5-24.9 (unless you have a lot of muscle). I would think that statistic is lower when comparing overweight to normal weight people.
