Default Ok, I love pork, but this may very well change my mind for good.

What is this world coming to? Mouse DNA and they expect us to eat that shit? First they take the sulfur out of diesel, now they gotta take the phosphorous out of pig crap by adding mouse DNA??? This is just sick!

Every animal we eat for meat has been genetically modified over the last couple thousand years. what's the big deal with this comparatively smaller step?

I don't, trust me. But the thought of food with mouse DNA on the dinner table? Doesn't that sound wrong to you?

I've seen them selling mice skewers (~6-8 mice) on the side of the road in Africa for people to buy and BBQ. I wouldn't be too concerned with a bit of mouse DNA...

It's just when they do this and the pigs crawl under your hood and start gnawing on your wires it's going to do a lot more damage.

That is exactly where a huge amount of our societies problems come from: People passing judgment based on how something "sounds" to them.

If we could start making more decision based on how things actually are, instead of how knee-jerkers think they "sound", we'd get where we need to be a hell of a lot faster.

FWIW: I read several years ago that they could replace the fat in pigs with healthy fat (from fishes, etc). They didn't do it, because people got all bitchy about genetically modifying pigs.
To put that in perspective, that means that you could be eating delicious bacon twice a day, but you aren't because hand wringers who don't know anything about how things actually are put a stop to it because they didn't think it "sounded" right.

Well fuck you very much. I love bacon.

"Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I'd never know 'cause I wouldn't eat the filthy motherf**ker. Pigs sleep and root in s**t. That's a filthy animal. I ain't eat nothin' that ain't got enough sense enough to disregard its own faeces." Pulp Fiction 1994

It's only DNA! It's not like they are marinating the pigs in mouse shit or something LOL

I hope we start putting pig DNA in mice. I can't eat a whole pig, but a mouse or two would be a really good snack. How about it, science?

we share 50% of our DNA in common with a banana. and 98% with a chimp.

its just DNA. even a slight change in DNA can make something COMPLETELY different.

so who cares if they are stealing some DNA from a mouse? i bet they could get that same DNA for a whole range of other places.. but mice are readily available and no one makes a stink when you cut them up in the name of science.
