That's brutal. LTE on iPhone 5 is 7-10 megabytes up.Originally posted by thetransporter
3mps upload on fiber? thats neat!
That modem looks huge!Originally posted by Zhariak
Actually to be honest, it's not that big. Size of a typical router/modem, maybe half the thickness. Just looks big because of angle.Originally posted by Kinjou

For comparison, there's an iPod mini beside it in the picture.

Zhariak, thats neat ,
does that fibre terminator/converter - convert the fibre to RF coax?
Do you use 3 megabit upload?
Can you tell us which community you got it in?

i wasnt serious
Yes, it looks like it converts fiber to RF coax, keep in mind that this is ONLY used for the Coax Cable modem for Shaw Phone, they DO NOT use a coax modem for the internet...Originally posted by thetransporter

Not sure what you mean by "3 megabit upload". They are on the Shaw Business 100 package, so upload is capped at 5mbps.
This was in the Foothills industrial area.
Keep in mind, this is their "Fiber to Curb" offering for small businesses. They offer the standard packages over fiber (Including Business 250), however you can go higher and start getting in to symmetrical speeds, gigabit, etc... But keep in mind that's quite the price hike.
I'm assuming that they are offering this service "free" to residential customers, and those customers have to sign an NDA probably (this is why there is no documentation). However, neither me or my client had to sign anything so all is good I'm assuming they are using the same hardware for residential customers.
I called to see if this was available for my home office in my area, but unfortunately it's not. I think they are really pushing the foothills industrial area, just because there is absolutely NO coax in the area...
I know shaw recently purchased Enmax's Envision fiber network, I'm wondering if this has something to do with the new availability in the foothills industrial...

Interesting. That is the exact same modem that i had installed for my telus ftth setup a few weeks back. The setup is a little different thought. My fiber from the street goes directly into the modem you pictured and then from there lan 1 goes to their action tech wan input. The actiontech then handles the coax splitting for ethernet over coax to the cable boxes.
Does Shaw rub their own fiber or are they leasing telus cables?

Yah I know Shaw baught enmax fiber but that doesn't help them with res market. Curious if Shaw runs fiber next to telus in new communities or not. I know most new communities are strictly fiber for telus at least. My patents in silverado now and there is no copper run to their house at all, but there is still Shaw coax. Forgive my spelling mistakes. . Typing on phone middle of the night in Nepal as I am jetlagged
