Default RIP GC8 You will be missed by all

well here are more pics of my GC8 that i bought from JDM Source on dec 4th and was wanting to sell to get an aristo, sold the car went to calgary to pick the guy up and then we went to the insurance office for him to get insurance on the car and stuff and we were sitting in the office for no longer then 10 min when a guy comes running in asking if any one in there was driving the black subaru that was on fire in the parking lot so me and the guy that was going to be the new owner of the car watched it burn infront of the insurance place, the fire inspector seems to think it was an electrical short in the wiring harness that is in the drivers side fender and now that the paint is all burnt off you can see where there was some body work and stuff done to the fender so this car was probibly in an accident at one point in time, would be interesting to see if there is any other body work that has been done to the car.......not realy sure what im going to do with it yet but for now im going to see what my insurance company says....will probibly try and buy the car back and then part it out so that it doesnt just go sit in a junk yard for the rest of its life because there is alot of stuff that is good on the car

here are some pics of the car, i will maybe get some under hood pics tomorrow

Who's officially held the title to the car at the time of the incident?

Brutal. Looks more like a leak in a fuel line. I don't know much about those cars but if it was in a prior accident, maybe something a gas line was pinched or cracked a little. Leak got worse and worse and it dripped onto the exhaust or something hot and whammy.
Not oil related as the fire looks clean burning.

It'd be nice if JDM Source helped you out a little since you didn't have the car long. Especially if you didn't do any mods to the car when you got it.
Maybe buy the car back for parts at an agreed price or even reduce the price of another vehicle for you to maintain their reputation. I would talk to them first before you start to slander their name.

If they came through like that, I think they'd more than make their money back through people feeling good about having some sort of warranty in a freak occurance like this.

Did you leave the car running outside unattended?

Sorry for your loss dude. GC8s are my favorite subbies by far, especially the 2 door ones.

I still don't understand how some of you buy these jdm cars. I don't want to start a debate again, but man some of you are risking your lives over a few grand of savings, and still getting an older bagged out car...

I would much rather endure the hardships of swapping a turbo motor into a N/A GC8, and all of the wiring nightmares. At least then I would know its my work and I did it right.

Forget the mileage, performance, looks and w/e else you might get over a N/A GC8, you are dealing with your life here, can you put a price on that?

But hey that's just my opinion

My guess would be overheated due to lack of coolant...

When you flushed all the fluids (after initial purchase) - who did it? Were there any coolant leaks around the turbo / cracks in the lines?

Sucks balls man - as for JDM source...the car was bought in December. If there were issues with the wiring / fuel lines / etc... It likely would have burned sooner, rather than 3 months later.

Shitty deal, I can't see how JDM would be responsible at all - or we would all buy, beat to shit, and return the car to JDM after 3 months because it lit on fire...

difficult to get a GC8 that is clean and the prices of them in AB way too high for what you would get.

And how many cases of JDM GC8 scoobies burning have there been?
