Default Where to rent a "runway" for a day

I've got some friends with some fast cars and were looking at renting an airport runway or something. Has anyone done this before in calgary? In Abbotsford this is nothing new but calgary i have no clue. There is a entry fee and what not so the cost isn't to bad. Were talking 240-350kph and able to stay at that speed for atleast 30-90 seconds.

April would be the best month.

    reason:
Top speed runs of course but also looking at some diffuser products that may or may not be 100% legal. The blinder of course and i have gone ahead and ordered acouple other laser jammers. Any help with this would be great and we were thinking spring bank airport but we were there today and thats a no go.

    Any help would be great!

    Lol seriously

lets average your top speed ranges to say 300km/h which is ~83m/s so at even 30 seconds your looking at ~2.5km's

even if you had some seriously fast cars you'd need a minimum of 1.6km to hit over 300km/h and then 2.5km's more for 30 seconds then how much distance to stop? Say 600m.

Thats a long ass runway. Good luck with that...

    Were in alberta come on...

The 300kph mark is just a safe side number.
Sometimes you have to take a chance, whether that be on someone, or something!

Ask Zahir where they rented their "private closed-off road" (complete with provincial highway signs and stop signs) for their top-speed runs

What you want to look for are industrial and abandoned RCAF runways.

    Google says:

    1. Claresholm Industrial Airport, former RCAF base (you can see it on google maps)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claresh...strial_Airport

    2. RCAF Station Vulcan (still there, not sure what kind of shape the pavement is in).
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCAF_Station_Vulcan

    3. Any smaller airport or private airstrip

^^ Vulcan is a piece of crap. I built some stuff out there and besides the dude who lives there, there is nothing.

I don't think top speed would be viable, as was said you'd need a hell of a long runway. But you should try and do a standing mile competition.

Just trying to be realistic and try and show ones that might actually be rent-able.

There's no where to even do that. 99% of private runways (in Canada) are less than 1km long.

If you want something longer than that, you'll have to find it in the U.S.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

I'm pretty sure that you need to get clearance from Transport Canada for use of any private airstrip... and last I heard they didn't like doing it at all.

Ask Zahir, he made a video for their exotic club and there's parts of the video where they're all cruising around on a runway.

Someone will just have to pave a 4km long "driveway" for their house out in the boonies.

If you want to go 300 km/h you are going to need something like Bonneville.

A runway will still be too short.
