Parents upset about dump trucks driving through school zone

This is the dumbest thing ever! So now the West LRT construction is making parents upset because dump trucks hauling the dirt away are driving by a school.

"I don't think [the truck drivers] see very well and when kids are crossing, I worry their visibility isn't as good as it could be," says Annette Walter.

Have you seen some of the SUV's that the soccer moms drive? They're not much smaller than the dump trucks. I live by 2 schools, and soccer moms in their SUV's are the ones that routinely ignore school zones.

I don't recall this much bitching when everyone and their dog cut through that area when they were repairing the bridge on Bow Trail. I routinely remember cars backed up all the way to 17th ave waiting to not only turn right from 26th street to Bow Trail or the other cars taking a right on 14th Ave to come out on 24th Street past the pedestrian bridge.

What else are the trucks supposed to do? They need to pull up on the westbound lane of Bow Trail to get loaded with dirt. The only way to do that safely is to drive 26 St. and turn left to be facing the right way to get loaded. What "Mom" should do is teach Johnnie and Janie not to run out in front of a truck that is coming down the road. Or let natural selection take it's course.
