    Default Smart Car @ Lonestar

I saw the Smart Car today, made by Mercedes at Lonestar. The car looks pretty cool. Sat inside it, and surprisingly its pretty roomy based on the size of the car itself. The tiny engine is at the rear of the car, and it uses the sequentronic transmission. Here are some pix...

The Smart car is not for sale, and as it is wouldn't pass transport canada inspection because it has no front bumper. It is simply here to see if people are interested in it, they are taking names at Lonestar.

and Gage: its pretty roomy inside considering how small the car is!

I cant see it standing up all that well in an accident...what does it do when it gets creamed? Fill with SecuraFoam like in Demolition Man?

I dont know if th "Modern World" over here is ready for this kind of advancement yet...the new 7series BMW didn't fair too well...and they are an established class...

That's my buddies neighbor in the first pic, pretty funny guy. Those cars are only good in Europe, where parking is a bitch.

Those are pretty funny looking, like mentioned before, that thing would hold up about aswell as a Bike in an accident, not exactly "smart".

What's the top speed though? You wouldn't last 2 seconds with that thing on Deerfoot!

Speedometer only goes to 140! Ouch!

Looks interesting. I got a model car of that from Europe about 4 years ago. They are a pretty sweet advertising car (Like a Hummer, Beetle and the Mini).

It only has an analogue clock too...sticking out of the middle of the dash! and it only comes with a cassette

they're pretty popular in Europe though, where parking is tight and taxes on bigger engine displacements are high

The Smart Car was crash tested against an S Class Mercedes, and the Smart Car was actually *BETTER*. It may look unsafe, but I guess the small size allows for some interesting safety designs. The top speed of the little thing is 135km/h! I would buy one, but only as a novelty... imagine cruising up and down 17th in that thing.

It'd be a neat AutoX car. You'd never hit cones in that thing!

Kinda suprising that it didnt do that bad in crash tests , but if your ever stuck in a strong wind storm, up.....up ....and ....away!!!
