    Default Towing an uninsured vehicle

Hey, just wondering if it is illegal to tow an uninsured vehicle on a dolley, with no wheels actually touching the ground. I'd like to get it moving today but if I have to wait and get temporary insurance tomorrow I guess I could do that.

    Thanks

If no wheels are on the ground it would seem to be on a trailer. And if so, there is no issue in towing it.

AFAIK, anything "in tow" takes the insurance of the tow vehicle.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

    Bang on

If a vehicle is "in tow" with a solid linkage to the tow vehicle (read no tow chain or strap), regardless of wheels touching the ground, the towed vehicle is covered under the insurance of the towing vehicle.

Think about tow trucks for this.

Sort of, but not the full insurance of the tow vehicle. If you have full coverage on the truck, you'll only have basic on the trailer. If you crash and your travel trailer goes up in flames/ or car gets destroyed off a flat deck, they aren't going to replace it. It has to have its own coverage.
