Default How healthy are Canadians? (vs Americans...)

I was having a discussion (ok, argument) with a relative in the States over health care, she was pissed that they were trying to get public health care down there (what if the Mexicans clog up the waiting rooms... seriously, that was an argument. WTF).

Anyway... she was trying to justify that their health costs are higher cause the average American is fatter. I told her maybe by a little, but not by much... or at least that's what I remember reading a while back.

Does anyone know where I can find a breakdown of population by BMI? As in: 40% in 20-25BMI, 30% in 25-30BMI; 30% in 30+BMI, or something along those lines?

She just bit off her nose to spite her face!

Not sure the credibility of this and it's not exactly what you want but it's interesting none the less:

just walk down the street and you can feel your arteries clog, so much horrible food down there. Watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.

As for the BMI/obesity stats you can find em here:

Healthy foods cost more money. In the states you can get 3 double cheese burgers at BK for $3.00. They are massive. Can't buy much in the way of wraps or lean meats with that kind of money.

If you had ready and inexpensive access to as much steak & lobster as you wanted, you too could be a hulking piece of shit.

Wow, that's funny to see actually. Why is Atlantic Canada so high, as they can have fresh fis daily! I'd kill for that. And alberta being the wealthy province is a little higher.. So that doesn't all relate to poverty equalling obesity, although I do believe it does in some cases.
