Red face 80% of BMW 1-Series owners think it's FWD!!

Um... seriously? You can hand me a set of keys too, please.

No, this isn't a joke. Really. Automotive News reports that BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer shared this statistic during a call with analysts last week. It is unclear where this information came from within BMW, but it still comes as a staggering surprise that 80 (eighty!) percent of 1 Series owners believe that they are living with front-wheel drive.

As we reported earlier, BMW is planning to bring front-wheel-drive vehicles to market in the near future, and the automaker is worried that it might confuse customers by adding these new products to the rear-drive-only lineup.

    Guess not.

We firmly believe that all current 1 Series owners who think their car is front-wheel drive should hand over their keys immediately... to us.

Since the demographic of the owners of this car is probably mostly female, this doesn't surprise me. The 20% of 1 Series owners that do know they is RWD are probably the male demographic, effeminate for sure, but still male.

For the most part, I don't think it matters if it's RWD/FWD just as long as it comes with the badges.

It's sad, there are a small bunch that have these cars for other reasons.

    Yes.

All it needs is a Roxy sticker and a lay.

    1 series = fem car.

In my history with purchasing BMW's I have found it very easy to tell the difference between an enthusiast and a poseur. This thread just goes to show that most people in the market for 1 and 3 series BMW's don't appreciate their car, or buy it just for the badge.

I find the most satisfying part of working on my BMW's is the feeling you get when all the fasteners break loose without a fight.

The second most satisfying thing is running an M70 v-12 with open headers.

It's not always the buyer, I've met a few idiotic salesmen who knew nothing about the car they were selling. Who knows if they told the buyer it was front wheel drive. I took a S2000 out once and the salesman tried to tell me it was Honda's only sports car that isn't front wheel drive. Hmmm........NSX? I brought the car back and told him to keep it.

The 135i is a pretty nice and capable car actually. It's just so homely. It looks squished sort of like a pug dog face and the cow-belly sagging after the front fenders. Ugly car.

Go ask an average Calgarian, who is not on beyond, what the difference is between a wheel and a tire or FWD and RWD and they wont know either. You'd be surprised how little an average person knows about cars.

Here with my sample of 1, I can deduce 100% of mustang owners think their car is FWD.

No offence, but you sound like a fucking moron. You didn't buy an S2000 because a salesman was mistaken and forgot to include the NSX? Hell, even just the fact that it isn't badged as a Honda in North-America would be enough reason not to argue or care. Sounds like you were a tire-kicker looking for an excuse to not buy.

But of course, you are the same person who argued that the R35 GT-R that I posted in a spotted thread wasn't a GT-R or have an R35 chassis code. So congratulations, you know what RWD cars honda produces.

I almost bought that exact car from Calgary BMW, and I actually regret not doing so. I love how everyone thinks this is a chicks/kids meal car.

    Obviously they haven't driven one.

I think you are missing the point. We know the car is decent but the exterior proportions are wrong and the car looks like ass.
