My restomod road bike (vintage 1982, was my dad's), which was quoted to cost 1000 to build at a shop 5 years ago (I told them where to stick it), then I ended up investing almost 1000 in parts and such anyways, but man I love this bike. Enough mods to write my own thread about it.

More amazing is that I paid around $600-650 for that bike 35+ years ago, that was a lot of money for a bicycle back then.

Just finished building this - it's a State Warhawk singlespeed cyclocross bike I tore down and upgraded a bunch of stuff on:
    -Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels
    -SRAM Force Carbon Crank
-Replaced heavy ass steel fork with a full carbon one
    -Specialized Phenom 143mm saddle
-Upgraded the Avid Shorty cantilever brakes to Tektro Mini-Vs

Bike's paint was scuffed, then painted rose gold and clearcoated in the back yard.

Agreed! I thought it was a titanium colour under weird lighting but I think rose gold is even better.

    nice project!
I still have a spare JTS frame that I've been wanting to convert into a single speed setup.
did you have to change the hub on the rear wheel for single speed?

On a Jake you'll have four options:
    - eccentric rear hub (such as a White industries ENO)
    - chain tensioner (like a Surly Singleator)
    - eccentric bottom bracket (I think Phil Wood makes one but they are pricy)
    - get lucky with the chain length and have the right amount of tension without any tensioning device

You can buy single speed conversion kits for the hub, which just replace the cassette with a bunch of spacers and a single cog. On this bike I'm running a proper singlespeed cog/chain/chainring which is much stronger than a 9 speed or 10 speed chain/cog setup.

Just get spacers to get the proper chainline and a single ring and you are good to go, no need to change hubs.

My Electra Cruiser Lux Fat Tire 7D:

I took a chance on this last year. I test-rode a Townie just to get a feel for the flat-foot geometry, then ordered this in mid-April and finally picked it up in late June 2018. I'm excited to get a full season of riding in.

Haha definitely cool. I was thinking about a handlebar or seat bag in that colour.

I'm enjoying it so far. I don't need to go long distances or get anywhere fast.

My hipster brewery hopper fixed gear is finally complete

State cycle wheels, 48/16 gears, mec bar tape, straps made from an old tie down strap. Way too many hours into the frame to get a brushed steel finish with black lugs and exposed braising. All bearings regreased and removed bearing holder and put in twice as many free floating bearings in bb for a smoother ride

You should have left the baby carrier on the back and thrown a creepy doll in it.

There's two more cogs on the back before it's fully cross chained = I look cooler riding in the big ring all the time.
(I am super guilty of this because climbing in the big ring makes me feel like less of a pussy)

    Emonda SL6.

Photo makes it look like cross chain, but im on the 3rd rear chainring (checked photo from other side). Plus trim, no rub!
