JDM style is against the bylaw... only if they catch you or is reported.
Years ago I was parked on the other side of the street at a friend’s house and his neighbor was a cop and told me that it was technically illegal to be parked like that... but you either have had to piss off your neighbors for them to call and report it (even than chances are no one will come) or a cop (even a bylaw officer I believe) has to be driving by and in a bad mood....
So in short... yes its illegal... chances of you getting a ticket... VERY slim

I remember when I moved here that I kept seeing people parked like that and thinking "They've had tagged and towed that bastard within an hour in Winnipeg".
I had no idea it was actually 'illegal' here, seems like so many people get away with it anyway.

See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
I didn't read the whole thing but can I park my bike facing the wrong way on the street? Section 4 say the right hand wheels need to be no more then 500mm from the curb...
4. (1) When parking on a roadway, a driver of a vehicle shall park that vehicle with the sides of it parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway and:
(a) with the right hand wheels of it not more than 500 millimetres from the right hand curb or edge of the roadway;

I'm going to find each and every one of your little internet friends!
I now feel like I went into shock. I started breathing heavily and lost my sense of what was going on.

I love Winnipeg in this sense.
.. Same with their winter parking laws.
.. Some guy does this on my street, it doesn't bother me, and im not the type to report something so trivial...
But it boggles my mind how people even think parking the wrong way on the wrong side of the street is at all a good idea.

What benefit is there in parking that way anyway?

I got ticketed for parking backwards in front of my house twice in one year. Both times I was in and out within a couple of hours.Originally posted by Freebs

Calgary is so much like an iphone: iCalgary - There's a bylaw for that.
Parking more than 50cm from the curb with the right hand tires is illegal as stated above. Plus you'll have to drive the wrong way (in the oncoming lane) to do it, so double whammy if an officer sees you.Originally posted by frozenrice

Bought not built!
Yeah, you'd have to be in the wrong lane to accomplish it (both coming and going). Plus to pull into traffic you can't properly see all the traffic around you and pulling out would be considered unsafe.Originally posted by frozenrice

Maybe my point wasn't very clear. I'm not debating the legality of it. I know it's illegal, but what I'm interested is the rationale/reasoning behind why it is illegal. The last half of your comment might have something to do with it.Originally posted by kevie88

Drive down a street at night that has a car on your left side driving towards you (on coming traffic) and a fucking idiot who is sititng in his car on the right side with his head lights on as well, its extremely blinding to have 2 sets of lights, on either side facing you.Originally posted by frozenrice
