Sweet! How does it compare in terms of size and weight? I've had a 2015 cbr1000rr and they say the new one is so much lighter, probably closer to a 600
It feels lighter than my 600, especially at turn in. It's a little comfier thanks to the riding position, and it doesn't have the lower fairings that my 600 had, so it feels much narrower when putting my legs down at a stop. I was honestly surprised at how nimble it feels at low speeds, as I had a buddy who replaced his R6 with an R1, and would mention that the R6 felt better, thanks to the narrower rear tire. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I was also really happy at how fantastic the stock exhaust sounds, considering I had an akrapovic on my 600.
I would've considered a new 600, as I wasn't looking for more speed, I just wanted all the toys, but was surprised when the 2017 CBR600RR is essentially identical mechanically to my 2012. It even still used the same cluster. That being said, my dream has always been to own a fireblade, and it doesn't disappoint.
Of note, I did cross shop with a BMW S1000RR and an Aprilia RSV4 (as well as compare it to all the litre bikes). If the fireblade didn't pan out, I would've likely picked up an Aprilia, or even the new Ducati SuperSport.

Very nice pick up! 2017 was a huge year for liters with the new 1000rr, new gsxr and with the revised r1 for 2015 and zx10 youre pretty much splitting hairs as to which one is better. This is going to be a long hard winter for you with a brand new bike sitting in the garage lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That's a very nice bike! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just curious why you chose it over the new R1? I've had an R1 and ZX-10R (among a few other smaller bikes), but never a Honda 1k. I think if I was still in the literbike market I'd be hard pressed to not get the new R1.
Not going to lie, I'm a bit of a honda fanboy. Honestly, it was reading up on the fireblade last summer when it was leaked that I started looking into it. Also, I might be in the minority, but I really don't like the front fairings of the new R1. I've also watched a ton of reviews, and most of them stated that the S1000RR and the fireblade were the comfiest of the litre bikes, and considering probably 80% of my mileage will be commuting, that was a selling feature to me.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If the fireblade hadn't been refreshed, I likely wouldn't have replaced my 600 yet.

Yeah that's legit. I did a 2 week road trip on an R1, cant underestimate the value of a comfy bike (which that wasn't, particularly). haha
I was going to say he was a honda fanboy lol
Even though i dont own an r1 anymore im still a total yammy fan boy but the new r1 is rated as the harshest ride but only because they went full on track mode with this bike. The sound the xplane motor makes with an aftermarket exhaust is by far the best sounding though
Agreed. It's not a whiney 600cc haha. The v4 and crossplane inline 4 sound the best. The pops of an S1000RR quick shifter is intoxicating too. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I wouldn't be the guy taking it to the track (it'd be a beat up 600 for track duty for me), so that part doesn't really matter... however it would absolutely be the cross plane motor that would sell me. The sound of those things with an AM exhaust is unreal. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I've been riding this shit out of this thing. Hoping KTM does a 790 SMC/SMR next year.

Just picked her up last night.
Got the bike sorted the way I like just before it snowed. One trip out to Turner Valley/Sheep River Falls so far. Just need to add some vibration dampening under the seat. It’s bolted directly to the subframe lol. Still learning things as I go I guess

just picked up my first ever Porsche Lol, at least they designed the engine. Chevrolet designed the frame. It's a 2006 HD Vrod, "street rod" VRSCR. Just had it dyno tuned at Red Line. 107hp and 79tq at the back wheel.
Oh wow. One of my favorites , badass V Rod.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
^ thanks buddy. If you ever want to go ridding this upcoming year, let me know. I'm getting it painted the same color as this guy. Im not finished modding it yet, but it'll have to do for now, I just have other priorities.
I can take this guy if you want to take the Vrod.
This one is a 07 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 custom. I bought Ducati stickers just to fuck with people, as I'm tired of people asking me if it's a Harley at intersections.
