    Default Catwalk, how dangerous?

Coming back into the city on deerfoot near country hills yesterday afternoon, some dude was pulling catwalks. Seemed to hold them for a really long time, like a minute, which is a long way at highway speeds. Did two at least. Not very wobbly, stayed in his lane, which was good because every lane was full.

Seems dangerous, but I'm not a bike guy. What do you think?

I think he trusts other deerfoot drivers far more than he should.

Dangerous when you’re learning, less so when you’re well practiced. Always stupid to do in traffic.

I used to ride a lot with my cousin who stunted his sport bike. He could wheelie for as many kms as he had paved road for (or until the engine got starved of oil and blew, which he also did), change lanes while on the back wheel, etc.

Just like anything else on two wheels, when you find the balance point, you can just kinda sit there.

I pull a small wheelie every day when I leave work when I ride in. I can't help it.

I'm pretty libertarian when it comes to bikes. Let them do wheelies, split lanes, whatever. If they mess up they're a stain on the pavement.

I fan say that it was quite distracting for the occupants of the vehicle I was in.

It took me like 3 reads of this thread to figure out what the hell you were talking about. Nobody has called a "wheelie" a catwalk since the 70s you old fart.

On the road I keep both wheels adhered to the road. If you want to stunt on the roads... especially Deerfoot its your own deathwish.

I would never wheelie deerfoot but I do like watching someone pull a good wheelie anywhere in traffic. It's like a box of chocolates.

Catwalks are less dangerous if you're an ambi-turner.

We're only here to help you be it through humiliation and shaming, but it's help nonetheless.

If I cared about sportbike culture, I'd be a very different man.

I agree, but I don't want to be the person that runs over the guy if he bails, especially if my kid is in the car and witnesses it. Much the same as people who suicide themselves in public spaces.

Do what you want, but keep it out of traffic.

    this.

just because he is the stain, doesnt mean he's the only victim in a situation like that. that could be very traumatizing reguardless fo who is physically injured.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Lame. When did the lane filtering start?
    Looking around
    Wondering what became
    Of what I once knew
