It works awesome as both my wife and I can use the same hotspot and data so I don't have to pay for roaming on either phone.

Best of both worlds. Of course, this really only works in 3G / 4G areas. 2G is fucking useless with Gvoice.
$3/day include 200MB per day. But I hardly run out except may be when I use it for work. But $15 for unlimited for a month is damn cheap.

Great news! Roaming outside of Wind Home zone just got a whole lot cheaper, especially with data...

Beauty. Now I can turn back on data while roaming.
With Shaw to Go wifi and now this, it should be pretty good.

I guess they're using Bell towers as partner networks now instead of Rogers for roaming.

5 cents/mb for LTE speed data roaming =

So is this what it's like to have a smartphone plan in EU? lol

Today's the day. Turn on data roaming and see what kind of speed you get outside the network.

Yea, all this REALLY makes me want to switch to WIND from the Rogers knobs - who flatly refused to give a 12 years-long subscriber, with an impeccable history, any deals.

You were probably doing it wrong.

I have been a subscriber since the Cantel/AT&T days and did the following.

I just called Rogers and asked for the cost to buyout contract. I was then put on hold.

The Rogers rep returned and asked "if we can give you are better deal would you be willing to stay?" They then gave me a great deal without any contract.

I never threatened to leave unless I got a deal nor did I ask for retentions or anything like that. I have a feeling that people that try a stronger tactic are just flagged by Rogers (or any other TelCo) as people trying to game the system and are ignored.

I followed through the rogers retentions method a few years ago, and I was able to reduce my price by 50%. But last year suddenly all my credits disappeared and they refused to do anything more.

I switched from Rogers to WIND years ago and have never looked back since. Wonderful customer service, stonking great plan for a "been with us from the start" type customer ($40 for unlimited everything pretty much), and nooooooooo contract!

Yah me too. Every once in a while I do with I had better reception as sometimes it's spotty, but nothing I do is critical so it isn't a big deal, and now that we can roam for cheap, it's even better.

As for rogers and all that, a few years back they pretty much stopped doing anything to anyone all of the sudden, probably because they were losing money from people leaving, and didn't want to give any further discounts for those who stayed. I was with them for 10 years, and after countless calls over the years to get a better deal, the deals stopped and I left.

Been on WIND for 3 years. The only spoty area is the transition zone from WIND to roaming carrier that I find tend to flip flop a bit.

Will support them until they start colluding with the Big 3 into the Big 4.

Was in Kananaskis this morning on an Nexus5 and could connect to Wind Away but no internet connectivity. Any tips for seemless roaming? I've always had problems with it. Bell S4 had internet, no problems.

Possibly APN problem? You did have data roaming enabled right?

How are you guys finding the reception in Calgary with Wind?

I am currently with Telus, and thinking about making the switch.

For the first year, while they were building their tower presence, it was spotty.

Now, almost anywhere in Calgary I have at minimum 3 bars signal, and 95% of the time I have a full 5 bars. Only difficult areas are in basements that are at the bottom of valleys (like where my parents' place is, I get down to 1 bar in the garage, but I can still connect to the network)
