Freedom is giving me a run around. My awesome plan is not as awesome anymore with my included great roaming in USA.
Need options, also I don't really go to USA anymore. But my 3G in the house is also bad signal as of late.
I pay $35/month. Need to start hard negotiating with freedom it appears.

Any ideas on a good plan to grab in the similar price range?
Check the device on file they have on you. They probably send that out based on device that isn't VoLTE capable.

I'll assume that if you have a 4G device, recent sim and VoLTE capable, it should be fine for roaming in US.

Good point. They would have a galaxy S3 on file for me. Not the actual case though.

    Those are crazy good plans.
Upgrading my plan that I've been on since 2010.
$41 for 20GB and 1GB of US data.

33GB for $35 here. Cousin for 30GB for $15 due to some stacking promo/f&f errors.

40GB for $50/mth with US roaming is tempting. But $15/mth difference buys me a lot of eSims if I do need to go to US.

Also, I remember reading that is a caveat about not using more than 10GB/mth on roaming networks consistently or something.

The caveat is there for US people with access to a Canadian home address. Can only imagine how cheap that is now with exchange rate factored in.

Other benefit is that it removes the home zone for data and calls.
So heading out of town, you will have data at high speed.

Hopped on it and don't have to think about data on ski/mtb hill or at the cabin. I also assume this will spur more competitive packages as people start to move companies now.

Overall good benefit for the market.

No it doesn't. Home zone still matters.

    https://www.freedommobile.ca/docs/de...age-policy.pdf

"4. Plans that have a single allotment of combined Freedom Network, Nationwide Network, and U.S. roaming data.

Our services and rate plans are designed for you to use predominantly on the Freedom Network. If more than 25% of your voice, text or data usage over consecutive billing cycles is not on the Freedom Network, we may terminate your service or restrict your ability to receive service on our third party service provider’s networks."

If you are always outside of home zone, you basically got a 10GB plan. But it does unlock value for people who wants to travel outside of home zone for a month or so.

Can't wait for someone to ditch Telus and find out they get cut off 2 months later.

Fido was also offering a US/CAN plan with the same pricing, though rogers sucks balls so not sure it's any better. Was hoping one of the koodo/virgin carriers would match it but seems not.

    I'm on a 50GB for $45 plan with Koodo.
