Default North Korea Sunk South Korean Ship w/ Torpedo

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...833858626.html

    Koreans be crazy.

SEOUL—South Korea's top military official said Sunday that a torpedo likely exploded under the Cheonan, the South Korean patrol boat that sank a month ago near the maritime border with North Korea, edging Seoul even closer to declaring it was attacked by forces from the North.

Good on the South for realizing a war and subsequent occupation of the North would most likely bankrupt them.

That's a shit situation, if you we're South Korea would you take military action with almost certain possibility of escalation or would you do nothing and show NK has the upper hand/"dominance"?

I really hope there isn't another war.

The PRK was guilty of another similar exchange back in 2002 which resulted in the sinking of a ROK ship - so really, its not like this hasnt happened before ie. dont expect nukes to fall or anything.

That a South Korean military ship did not know the cause of destruction, usually means submarine.

If Il boy has a workable submarine, he doesn't need to miniaturize his nukes for ICBM's.

    Don't be so sure.

Kim Jong Il definitely has working nukes probably six, they just aren't "small". If assumptions are correct they are probably around the two tonne+ range (and not the heavily refined 80 kilogram, ICBM mountable range) and the 4.0 Richter scale type explosions.

Two tonnes is nothing, you can put that sucker on a WWII type submarine no problems. You can also buy a black market submarine fairly easily if you cannot make one yourself (although its not that tough to make a functioning submarine, if you already know how to make nukes and near orbital missles)

It need not even be torpedo mountable, all Il needs to do is drive the whole submarine into the coastal city, Timothy McVeigh style.

Personally - I just raised the chances of Kim Jong Il being able to destroy any coastal city without advanced sonar, in the world to "Significant" or 5%.

I am not looking forward to being an Asian man in North America if he should happen to target one of them here though. My guess - offshore oilrigs, Panama Canal, Venezuela, or maybe even the US Virgin islands. The primary target(s) need only inspire fear not tactical significance.

If science can put fish genes into apples, I wouldn't assume anything.

There was the idea that Canada should send a delegation to North Korea (much like the Bill Clinton visit) to determine and establish peace talks (remember, the war never really ended for Korea)

I am wholly against the idea. Canada has very very poor diplomats. The US delegation with Bill was more than enough. IE: I would not be wanting to go to a Canadian surgeon for an advanced surgery.

A Canadian diplomatic team would probably "botch" it and make things worse instead of making things better. I'd just be happy if the federal govt would stop slacking and actually do some work in this country.

Side note: The wartime trade embargo since 1950 is still in effect.

(not sure why I am doing this)

I am quite sure, if they wanted to drop a nuke, the PRK would have done so by now. Instead, they will likey continue with their harassment tactics in order to gain attention.
