Default how does one go about upgrading thier video card?

My ultimate goal is to be able to load videos from my camcorder to my CPU.

How would i go about doing this?

What kind of computer do you have?
Do you have an AGP slot?

Look into purchasing an ATI All-In-Wonder card; I believe that it has all the necessary inputs for what you want to do.

Just make sure that you have an AGP slot, or otherwise see if you can find a PCI version of the AIW.

If your camcorder is analog, then yes, an All in Wonder, or an addon TV card can capture your video in analog and save in MPEG or MPEG2.

If you have a MiniDV camcorder, get a firewire card, which will allow you to dump the videos onto your hard drive in DV format, which has no quality loss. Then you can compress to MPEG2.

How fast is your computer? The quality is really good with the AIW cards, but you need a fast computer to be able to record MPEG2 in realtime. VCD in realtime is easy, pretty much any ghetto computer can do it.

I'll post some of my old AIW cards for sale shortly. I have a shitload of 'em from previous upgrades, everything from AIW 128 to AIW Radeon.
